As many are aware there has been some demolition within the park, this was due to the fact that it was unsafe and needed an enormous amount of money to repair it.

We recorded this in our minutes from October 2014 and we consulted the local chemical plant, Solvay, to inform them of this and if they had any concerns.

Since this demolition there has been a few emails from angry people asking why this was demolished.

The group has very limited funds and we didn't want to use the hard earned money we have on something that was vandalised and in a poor condition that served only a handful of residents, we want to spend the money in Shaw Park that benefits ALL the community and make this park an area for residents to enjoy and relax.

Stainland recreation is approx. 1 mile up the road and has far more sports facilities that Shaw Park could ever offer, it is also 2-3 times larger than Shaw Park.

As a final note, the group don't actually have the final say in what happens to Shaw Park, that is down to Calderdale Council, we are here to support Calderdale in trying to return Shaw Park back to how it was several years ago.

If you feel this strongly about the park then get on board with us by volunteering and help deliver something for all the community, please feel free to attend our meetings which are on the first Thursday of every month starting at 7pm in the church at Holywell Green
